Water diet can prevent pot belly, says expert

Ibadan -  Mrs  Gbemisola Adeyefa, a public health nurse and weight management expert at  the University College Hospital, (UCH), Ibadan, says a  special water diet can  prevent or  reduce  pot belly.
Adeyefa said in Ibadan on Tuesday that an average person needs  up to eight glasses of water a day.
She said  drinking water and eating watery foods like water melon and  greens  as well as vegetables have  enormous health benefits.
“To prevent pot belly, I will advise people to follow the water diet recipe which is used all over the world.
“We need to add freshly grated ginger, medium-sized cucumber, thinly sized lemon into two  litres of water.
“Combine all ingredients into a large plastic can and allow the flavours to blend overnight in the refrigerator.  Drink the entire water by the end of each day,” she said.
Adeyefa said that if this was done daily and consistently, belly fat would be considerably reduced.
She enjoined  Nigerians to  also pay special attention to their intake of fattening foods, saying  this may not make the water diet and therapy to be effective. (NAN)
